BW's MPH program prepares prepares students for 专业 挑战 and 机会 in 人口 health promotion and 管理. You'll gain 跨学科 knowledge and skills that can be applied to 医疗保健 practices and programs designed to prevent disease, improve the delivery of health services, promote the health of diverse 人口 and reduce health 差距. BW's MPH features 协作 study, research, and service that 强调 the 重要性 of 卓越 in 人口 health practice and need for social justice and service to 脆弱的 人口.

You can choose from four available 浓度:

1. Population Health Leadership & 管理: This 浓度 prepares students with critical leadership and 管理 tools needed to address evolving 医疗保健 needs of diverse 人口. Students in the Population Health Leadership & Management 浓度 will require a minimum of two years of prior work 经历 in public health or 医疗保健 sectors to be eligible for admission.
   
   
2. Health Education & Disease 预防: This 浓度 offers programs of study to assist students to acquire advanced methods for assessing community health needs and to develop and implement disease prevention strategies to promote better health. Prior work 经验 is not required to apply for this 浓度.
   
   

3. 流行病学: This 浓度 prepares students to approach 人口 health issues by applying 以证据为基础的 流行病学 methods and tools. Students will learn a broad range of 定量 data analysis 技术 to examine the causes and preventive 方法 of diseases and evaluate the 有效性 of 人口 health programs. Prior work 经验 is not required to apply for this 浓度.

4. Health 信息: Students in this 浓度 will learn modern 技术 and 方法 to dive into the world of big data in 人口 health and the 医疗保健 industry. Students will learn 不同的, 高需求 skills, including data 可视化, data mining, testing 的关系 among variables using path diagrams, 统计 modeling, and making 预测. Students will gain hands-on 经验 using 主流 software and 技术 used in various public health problems, such as ArcGIS Desktop, SAS, JMP Pro, Tableau, R Studio, and Python. Prior work 经验 is not required to apply for this 浓度.

Classes meet Friday evenings and Saturday mornings (two weekends a month) on The MetroHealth System campus in Cleveland or the Baldwin Wallace campus in Berea. Online students can complete the sessions at any time during the directed timeframe.

The department of public health and prevention science values 以证据为基础的 教育 方法 that actively engage students within the learning 环境. The faculty utilize a variety of 技术, including 具体问题具体分析 learning, 基于技术的 pedagogy, case studies and 协作 learning 技术 such as 高质量的 class 讨论 and peer teaching (i.e., role play, test taking teams, etc.) that offer an 替代 to 授课为基础 class meetings.

Public Health Club
The Public Health Club promotes awareness about public health issues; generates and shares service and internship 机会; creates 专业 fellowship and 发展 机会; and advocates for 预防 education, research and funding for the public health field.

A 重要的 strength of the BW MPH program is that it provides students with 机会 to apply learning directly within the 医疗保健 or community setting. All students enrolled in the MPH program will 参与 in research projects and a 最终 经验 合并 a wide range of 人口 health topics and settings.

最终 经验

The 最终 经验 provides the 机会 for students to address a public health question or issue of their interest that draws from their academic 经验. It allows students to apply, integrate and 合成 knowledge and 经验 obtained during their academic course of study to a question or problem of public health relevance. In some cases, the 最终 project idea or 机会 may evolve from the student's current place of 就业. The 最终 经验 has three primary 组件: a proposal, a written applied project paper and an oral 演讲.

Baldwin Wallace 大学 and all its programs are 认证 by the Higher Learning 委员会 (HLC). The Ohio 部门 of Higher Education (ODHE) approved the MPH program in 2016. The MPH program is preparing for the 认证 process with the Council of Education for Public Health (CEPH).
